On Wednesday, November 15, our monthly meeting moves to India!
The 2017 Skal International World Congress just ended in Hyderabad, India.
President Lorene Sartan and Past President Marylou Foley attended and toured India, so sample the country and savor the cuisine. The rest of us missed-out! But here is your chance to catch-up.
During the World Congress, all 19 Skal Clubs in India were Twinned with Skal Clubs in the USA. Only Atlanta was Twinned with two Indian Clubs – Mumbai and Poona. Kennesaw State University, home of our Young Skal Chapter has named 2017 as the “Year of India”. Brand USA (a partner of Skal) and the India Ministry of Tourism have launched a year-long project to promote tourism. Diane Turner of Brand USA is our newest Member, and both the City of Atlanta and Poona are members of “One Hundred Resilient Cities”! The India Consul General has arranged the loan of a collection of priceless Indian puppets to be exhibited at The Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts (the largest in the USA). And there are more synergies. Officials of the City of Atlanta, the State of Georgia and the Indian Consulate of Atlanta are invited to attend. Let’s celebrate!
This meeting is being done “ala cart”, with timing to keep you out of heavy traffic, choose what event(s) you wish to attend, be entertained, meet Young Skal and KSU, and savor the food of India at a level that suits you best.
