Notes about the 2013 Auction
There was discussion about the admission fee, and it was decided to keep the 2013 fee at the 2012 amount of $35.  This applies to members and guests.  A decision was made not to have raffle items but rather put them as part of the silent auction.  There are to be no consignment items.  Certain silent auction tables are to close at different times.  Auction staffing was discussed.  Clark and Dana agreed to be there early.  Gail was unsure of his availability.  There is to be a photo safari item with some money to the Club and some to the vendor.  The proceeds are to be split after a minimum amount is reached.  Burcin made the motion, Gail seconded; the motion passed.
Value of SKAL and Attracting Membership
Debbie and Terry spoke about the value of the Club and how to attract more members by focusing on these Club values: Friendship, Camaraderie, and Fun.  A variety of events was discussed.  This is the work of a new Membership Committee headed by Debbie that includes Shary Dyer, Maria Price, Jim Peluso, and Terry Brennan.  Part of the effort will be include a Monthly Member Spotlight in the Evite and include a 5-minute introduction at the meeting.  Guest speakers will be scheduled with the goal to include a guest speaker on a bi-monthly basis.   Different get-away/family events were mentioned including a Gwinnett Braves night and Wilderness Resort in Tennessee.  Dana moved that the approach and direction of the Membership Committee’s focus be approved, and Gail seconded.  The motion passed.  Gail and Clark reported on exhibiting at a recent Atlanta travel trade show and their collection of names of potential members.    Gail suggested the value of SKAL business cards, and he took a number of orders.   David Rosati’s membership was noted as being very near final approval.  We had guests attending the General Meeting that followed, including Ashley Vicos, guest of Dana; Vela McClam, Owner/President of Georgia International Travel; and James Keller, V.P.
